The more I hear about James Gunn’s SUPER, the more I want to watch it. There’s something about misguided heroes that draws me in. With its hyper-violence and character motivations, the movie reminds me of this year’s Kick-Ass. There’s also something about Ellen Page who is about to go in for the kill with some Wolverine claws.

James Gunn recently released these pictures on his website with a post that successfully paints this film as an underdog, another reason to love this movie.

Like I’ve said before, SUPER is a very small film made on a very low budget.  All of us involved created this film out of a passion for filmmaking and storytelling. All of our actors, including Rainn Wilson, Ellen Page, Liv Tyler, Kevin Bacon, Nathan Fillion, Michael Rooker, Gregg Henry, Linda Cardellini, and Andre Royo, did this movie for the guild minimums – at the most, they got paid a few thousand dollars – as did I.  It is a rough movie, extreme and tender and funny in turns, with tonal shifts galore, and it’s certainly not for everyone.  But perhaps it’s for you.  And if it is we need your passion in promoting it just like we needed the passion of the folks who created it while making it.  So please let people know about SUPER.  Tweet links, Facebook photos, post videos on bulletin boards, and tell everyone you know – get the information about SUPER out there. Andre Effin’ Royo is in this movie as well, also known as Bubbles from The Wire. You’ve got to wonder…if all of this talent is signing up for this movie and only getting paid a few thousand, then the story must be really good.

Ellen Page was in Inception. Why would she need to have an off-brand movie like this under her belt? Because it will be awesome.
