We’re reaching the end of 2010, and soon we’ll be getting a lot of “best of the year” lists floating around the internet. Youtube is no exception. The video site has ranked their most viral videos of this year. And one video made its way from small internet meme to the world’s collective consciousness.
Of course, we’re talking about Antoine Dodson’s Bed Intruder Song, auto-tuned by the Gregory Brothers. We knew rape could be funny, but we didn’t know how funny it could be until this song. It was this year’s Chocolate Rain, and Dodson has made some lucrative deals out of the whole fiasco, like his very own Halloween costume. He eventually got his family out of the ghetto with the money made from the Youtube ads.
Vulture has the full list below…
Congratulations to Antoine Dodson and Auto-Tune the News! Their collabo “Bed Intruder Song” took the coveted viral-video crown, with a cumulative 60 million views in 2010. The rest of the top ten, in order: “TIK TOK KESHA Parody,” Key of Awe$ome; “Greyson Chance Singing Paparazzi”; “Annoying Orange Wazzup”; “The Man Your Man Could Smell Like,” Old Spice; “Yosemitebear Mountain Giant Double Rainbow 1-8-10″; “This Too Shall Pass (Rube Goldberg Machine Version),” OK Go; The Twilight Saga: Eclipse Trailer; Jimmy Surprises Bieber Fan; Ken Block’s Gymkhana Three, Part 2. (By the way, this list excludes major-label music videos, a field obviously dominated by Bieber’s “Baby.”) If you haven’t seen any of these videos, get more mass-e-mail-prone friends. So congrats to Mr. Dodson. We got a good laugh, you got famous, and your sister didn’t get raped. It was a win-win for everyone except the rapist.
