Badassery of the Day: Ellen Page With Claws in James Gunn’s ‘SUPER’

The more I hear about James Gunn’s SUPER, the more I want to watch it. There’s something about misguided heroes that draws me in. With its hyper-violence and character motivations, the movie reminds me of this year’s Kick-Ass. There’s also something about Ellen Page who is about to go in for the kill with some Wolverine claws.

Kevin Smith Casts Nicholas Braun in Hockey Flick, ‘Hit Someone’ Kevin Smith Casts Nicholas Braun in Hockey Flick, ‘Hit Someone’

Kevin Smith has recently cast Nicholas Braun for his hockey movie, Hit Someone. If you’re not familiar with Braun, he’s a fellow who looks like he was bred straight from Disney’s machine, which is semi-accurate because he had an appearance in Disney’s Princess Protection Program and Sky High.

Hollywood has suffered another loss with Leslie Nielsen passing away last night. He started off his career in dramatic roles and romantic roles, but would later reinvent himself as a comedic actor and a master of spoofs in the 80’s.

8 Fictional Foods

Given that it’s the season for holiday feasting (and passing out on the couch in front of movie marathons on basic cable), we thought it’d be fun to compose a spread of dishes and drinks from our favorite movies and TV shows. Just don’t ask about the Fried Soylent Green Tomatoes.

Dan Akroyd is Recklessly Confirming ‘Ghostbusters’ Rumors, Still Manages to Get Us Excited Dan Akroyd is Recklessly Confirming ‘Ghostbusters’ Rumors, Still Manages to Get Us Excited

The rumor mill for Ghostbusters 3 has been going strong for the past couple of years. Most of it was just back and forth confirmations and denials. But this latest detail is perhaps the most interesting. Dan Akroyd has stated on radio that the film is in the process of casting. And the people they have in mind get a thumbs up from me.

The ‘Games of Throne’ Trailer Is Sufficiently Excellent The ‘Games of Throne’ Trailer Is Sufficiently Excellent

HBO just released this Game of Thrones trailer after last night’s showing of Boardwalk Empire. And as we have come to expect from all HBO trailers, there is a lot of violence, a lot of sex, and and an overall sense of epicness. The winter is coming…

Michael Bay Completely Changes His Mind on 3D, Comes Off as a Douchey Hypocrite Michael Bay Completely Changes His Mind on 3D, Comes Off as a Douchey Hypocrite

Michael Bay further proves that he’s a tool by claiming that he loves the 3-D format after previously stating that it’s a passing fad a year ago. It just so happens that he is shooting his latest flick, Transformers: The Dark of The Moon, in 3D so his reversal of opinion is most likely because of that. Either way, someone needs to facepalm the guy.

James Franco and Anne Hathaway Headed to Host The Oscars James Franco and Anne Hathaway Headed to Host The Oscars

I guess desperate times call for desperate measures. Tom Sherak has made the bold choice of choosing James Franco and Anne Hathaway to host this year’s Oscar ceremonies. It looks like all those minutes of being naked onscreen have finally paid off.* But of course, for her viewers, all those minutes have always paid off.

Have a Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!

Apologies for the sporadic-sparse posting in the last 24 hours. Do not fear. The site is not broken. The Neighborhood is going on an early Thanksgiving vacation. We will continue our writing duties next Monday. We’re going to spend the holiday with the real Hollyhood, our families (or a bucket of chicken). But in lieu of our posting, take the time to appreciate our Thanksgiving decorations we’ve put

Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, writers of possibly the best zombie comedy film, Zombieland (neck and neck with Shaun of the Dead), are going to make their directorial debut with a movie called Doc and Howie. The movie involves a grandma, the schlubs responsible for her death, and the hot granddaughters they fall for. Sounds like a slam dunk.

Lindsay Lohan, who has her own personal jail cell reserved for her, has been outed from Matthew Wilder’s Linda Lovelace biopic. She’s being replaced by the much more talented and much less troublesome Malin Akerman. Speaking of Malin Akerman, she has had a history of taking her clothes off on film, making her the best candidate for this project.

‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows’ Works Its Magic On the Box Office ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows’ Works Its Magic On the Box Office

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 won the top spot in the box office this weekend. Of course, no one expected different. In more disappointing news, it didn’t do better than Twilight. On the other hand, it was still the 5th highest grossing movie in box office history. I think we’ve thoroughly underestimated the power of sexually repressed under-aged girls.

11 Voice Actors

It’s hard enough getting noticed as an actor in Hollywood, but some performers are talented (and humble) enough to do it while hidden behind away in a booth like the great and terrible Oz. Here are some characters and voices you may already know and love, along with the faces behind the mic’s that you rarely get to see.
